Childbirth/Perinatal Professional Series
Introducing the Certified Childbirth Consultant (CCC) credential, a top of the line offering for childbirth professsionals.
Community Outreach Perinatal Education (COPE)
We are proud to offer the Certified Perinatal Educator (CPE) for graduates of the COPE program. This 48 hour comprehensive training provides paraprofessionals, peer outreach workers, family support workers, nurse home visitors and 'resource mothers' with basic perinatal skills encompassing doula, childbirth education and lactation education. On completion of this series the employee is certified and able to deliver and/or host childbirth education in the home and community setting. Agencies are able to bill for educational units according to their individual state or federal guidelines. CPE's are eligible to move to higher levels of education in the perinatal arena based on this foundational training. For more details and an individualized training schedule please contact Kathy Bradley, Director of Perinatal Education at email@example.com
On-Line/Long Distance Learning Programs
All three of our Childbirth/Perinatal Education Courses are available on-line as well as in class. Here is what one student had to say:
"The Common Sense School of Midwifery Long Distance Doula Certification is a program that I was blessed with the opportunity to attend in July of 2012. I have never experienced such an in depth online program before. I was able to see everything that was going on in class and take an active part in all discussions even though I was sitting at a different facility. I was interacted with just as much as the other doulas and received all of the personal attention I needed. I was able to raise my hand and ask questions via Adobe Connect and was answered promptly by not only Kathy Bradley and Jennie Joseph but also the chat moderator. I really appreciated that because there were some points where I felt that the whole class should not have had to be disrupted by one simple question and the moderator was able to take care of my concern. I was able to interact with the other student through my web cam and viewed every movie along with them simultaneously.
As a trained fellowship student with CSSM, I write this as a better doula and I thank Kathy Bradley, Jennie Joseph, and The Birth Place for not only allowing me to attend the online program but also helping me to achieve new accomplishments and reach the higher plateaus of birth service I have since completing the training. I recommend CSSM online courses to any and every doula, child birth educator, and lactation consultant that is practicing or obtaining the prerequisites to practice. This school truly has unique and enriching programs that none of you should miss out on. The instructors are nothing less than motivating and have a terrific wealth of knowledge and wisdom relevant to your field to offer you. You can and should enroll. It is the best gift that you can give to not only yourself but to the families you work with and the world; which is simply waiting for your service."
